Staying Who We Are

I am thinking about the cultural differences between people. These tend to stay very constant over the years, as they are part of an overall “world-view” that does not change rapidly. Consider:

1) Islamic culture as revealed in Zero Dark Thirty.

2) Katherine’s comment about British detectives and how they work.

3) European vs American culture.

Europeans have been colonizers. They tried to get others to do their work. Islamic culture is partiarchal and tradition based. New ideas are to be rejected. Americans are “frontiers” people. We make sacrifices and learn skills to survive and improve ourselves. We are not afraid to work, but we can take that perspective to extremes.
