Why is debate so polarized today? Because we can choose what information we want to receive. In the past, media was broadcast to us, so the media had to cater to a broad audience. Polarization was avoided. Today, via internet and cable, we choose what point of view we want to listen to. We’ll choose the one that boosts our world view. The dialog is tailored to this new reality, and communications are tailored towards specific outlets with specific viewpoints.

The end result: more polarization.

I am just reporting, not judging.
