A Bad Turn

A fundamental error that was made in the early 20th century is believing in detailed arguments. What do I mean?

Two examples are psychoanalysis and communism. These two ideas were essentially promoted by a single person who made brilliant detailed arguments as to why their view was correct.

Science has won this battle. Detailed arguments are not necessarily true. Truth is found via comparing predictions to data.

Beware the detailed argument.
