Helping Carolla And Rubin Understand Things

As a scientist, I believe I have a role to play in helping Adam Carolla and Dave Rubin understand things that puzzle them. This is a post aimed to increase their understanding of the world.

Carolla does not understand people’s reaction to what happened during COVID. Rubin does not understand why liberals seemingly want to destroy the world they live and thrive in. I will address Rubin’s confusion here, although Carolla’s confusion can be understood by these same ideas.

Outcomes depend on two things: 1) the intrinsic properties of an object and 2) external factors that affect that object.

Liberals tend to believe that external factors are far more significant that intrinsic properties. Communism is a great example of the belief in the over-arching importance of external factors.

Conservatives tend to believe that intrinsic properties are much more important. Conservatives believe that capitalism is successful because it relies on hard work and motivation, which could be viewed as intrinsic properties.

The reason the left seem to be proposing nonsense solutions to problems is because they believe problems are due to external factors. So, if certain groups are not doing well with educational outcomes or wealth status, there must be external factors to blame. That is why supposed “reverse engineered” (Carolla’s language) solutions to problems are proposed. For example, lowering testing standards solves the problem of why certain groups seemingly do poorly in standardized tests. Creating rules where equality of outcomes is engineered into the system is exactly about changing external factors and ignoring intrinsic properties. If you believe that intrinsic properties are irrelevant to outcomes, what other choice do you have to create equality?

Dave Rubin is incorrect when he states that liberals or the left want to destroy this country. Instead, it’s that liberals and the left want to achieve certain outcomes. Liberals see no other way to achieve those outcomes except to mandate the outcomes, ignoring the role of intrinsic properties in achieving those outcomes. Is that clearer now?
